SASM held their first in-person meeting in several years this October.  Thanks to Dr. Jennifer Dominguez and Dr. Bukky Nafiu for the great sessions, and thanks to Dr. Mandeep Singh for the hands on workshop.  As president, Dr. Christine Won led SASM through the challenging path from distance based to in-person collaboration.

We are pleased to welcome our new Board members: Mary J. Hargett (Director of Education, and Clinical Initiatives for the Department of Anesthesiology, Critical Care & Pain Management, at Hospital for Special Surgery, and  Administrative Director of the Regional Anesthesiology and Acute Pain Medicine Fellowship Directors Group) and Dr. Sarah McConville (dual boarded in anesthesiology and sleep medicine at OHSU).  Their expertise will be invaluable  to SASM.

2023 SASM Annual Meeting will be available on-demand!

The word is out! SASM's Annual Meeting was a huge success! For those unable to join us in person we are pleased that we will be able to offer a subscription to our live meeting content. This is a can't miss opportunity to stay engaged in our society.

We are finalizing the production of the podcasts; access will be available by December 1.
The podcasts are convenient and accessible via our learning platform and will allow you to listen to content at your own pace.

To accomplish the Mission of SASM, the society will rely heavily on the activities of its various committees consisting of active members of the society. All committee appointments will be made by the President of the Society, after approval by the Board of Directors. The various committee chairs have considerable input into the composition of their respective committees. Active members of SASM are encouraged to participate in various committees. Appointments to the committees are generally made upon the recommendation of committee chairs.

We are happy to announce that these members have accepted the President's invitation to chair the following committees:

• Abstract Committee: Dr. Mo Eissa
• Clinical Committee: Dr. Melanie Lyons and Dr. Tom Cloward
• Communications Committee: Dr. Kara Dupuy-McCauley
• Membership Committee: Mary Hargett
• Program Committee: Dr. Bukky Nafiu

These committees are truly the life of our organization, each has a meaningful impact on our success. Participation in committee work is a great way to be considered for leadership roles and to be considered for future board positions. Most committee meetings are held via teleconference at the discretion of the committee chair, based on business in hand and the availability of its members. We have a lot of great work to accomplish in 2024 and you can be part of it!
